Le Puy
Chateau Le Puy is perched on a high point in Bordeaux’s right bank that is in the 14th generation of ownership by the Amoreau family. It is a rare property in Bordeaux that makes classically styled wines utilizing natural methods; they are certified biodynamic in their vineyards, ferment all their wines with native yeasts, never fine or filter their wines, and only add low amounts of sulfur post fermentation. The 100-hectare property is evenly divided between vineyards and natural fields and forests as a way to maintain biological diversity. The Emilien is around 85% Merlot with Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon making up the balance of the blend. The wine is fermented in concrete and is aged for 2 years in barrel, both large and small but never any new.
